Urban Rituelle Product Launch

I was recently invited to attend Urban Rituelle’s Launch for their new range ‘Weekender’. The launch was hosted by Kat and the team at ‘Her Fashion Box’ at their super sleek warehouse Head Quarters . It was a great opportunity to mingle with other bloggers and most importantly to meet Leanne Haining, the mastermind behind the Urban Rituelle phenomenon.

For those who don’t know of Urban Rituelle, they are an Australian made and owned bath & body company. They make everything from hand creams and soaps, to home fragrances. Just from meeting Leanne you can tell she puts a lot of thought into her products. Her fragrances all have a personal meaning to her as they are all symbolic of a time, place or memory from her own life. Even down to the design of the packaging it all relates back to the sensory experience Leanne tries to deliver to her customers.

The new collection ‘Weekender’ showcases three destinations.

Country Garden which they describe as a gourmand blend featuring the soothing scents of warm, simmering pear drizzled with sweet vanilla.

Beach House. (also an UR best seller) A delicate, aquatic blend featuring the soft scent of white musk layered with fragrant lotus blossoms.

and my personal favourite, Alpine Loft. A sensuous blend featuring the sweet, citrusy notes of bergamot infused with the warm, comforting notes of golden amber.

Even though Leanne started out as a soap company, I must say I really enjoyed her hand creams. I took home the Alpine Loft hand cream which is just a joy to rub all over dry hands. Moisturising without being greasy!

Finders Keepers

If you’ve ever been to a Finders Keepers Market, you’d know they are the crème de la crème of markets.

Jam-packed with the freshest of new and upcoming designers, it’s an absolute feast for the senses.

Finders Keepers showcase anything from food and candles to fashion and art.

It’s a definite must-go if you want to discover new talent or just simply after something a little different for your home.

I arrived quite late to the Sydney venue- roughly an hour before closing. So I was in a frantic rush trying not to miss anything.

I did end up with this GORGEOUS print by Rachel Kennedy Designs, who is an absolute talent and you can buy her designs for an absolute steal.  Check out her work here.

If you missed Finders Keepers over the weekend there is a little wait till the next one- but a wait well worth it!

DIY Metallic Flowers Tutorial

If you’re after something a little different from the average bunch of flowers, why don’t you try giving them a spray paint makeover.

It’s a great idea for parties or table settings, the possibilities are endless!

In this tutorial I used artificial flowers but if you want to use real flowers there are some great floral spray paints on the market safe enough to use on real blooms without doing any damage.

What you’ll need:

Spray Paint.  I used a mix of Design Master and Ironlak.

Foil or Masking Tape

ImageTear off a few sheets of aluminum foil and wrap them around the stem and leaves of the flower. Alternatively you could use masking tape but I found foil quick and easy.

ImageMake sure the foil is wrapped tight around the stem to avoid any paint from spraying off onto uncovered areas.

To prep the flowers for the gold paint I firstly sprayed them white to give them a richer gold result.

Next- spray on the gold! (or any colour of your choosing) Make sure you’re spraying from all directions to ensure full coverage.

The next step is optional. I held down the nozzle of the spray can ever so slightly to make the paint ‘splatter’. I covered the gold in silver splatters to give it more dimension.

Now simply leave to dry and place in your favourite vase. As you can see I mixed mine with some more metallic.

If you are really adventurous you could spray the stems. Would love to see your renditions!
